Should Jerusalem be the capital of Israel?

If you are a Bible believing Christian then you might be puzzled by this very question because the Bible makes it clear that for thousands of years Jerusalem has always been the capital city of the Jews and it will be the very place where Jesus, the Messiah, will return to in the last days ruling for another thousand years,

“This is what the Lord says: “I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.” Zechariah 8:3

Jesus will reign from Jerusalem during the period known as the millennium, which can be read in detail in Ezekiel 40:1 – 48:35 (and Rev 20:4) and the Bible says that in the last days,

“On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.” Zechariah 12:3

On December 2nd 2017 U.N. resolution A/71/l.22 was passed by 147 nations. This U.N. resolution states,

“any actions taken by Israel, the occupying power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem are illegal and therefore null and void and have no validity whatsoever, and calls upon Israel to immediately cease all such illegal and unilateral measures.”

These ‘United Nations’ (the United Kingdom included, to our shame) are wilfully standing again God’s declaration and therefore are in danger of incurring His judgement. It is God who has declared that Jerusalem is the ‘Eternal City’. God says in 2 Chronicles 6:6,

“But now I have chosen Jerusalem for my Name to be there, and I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.”

To say that Israel is not allowed to call Jerusalem its Capital City is absurd and a restriction that is placed by the United Nations only on Israel; no other nation experiences this same bias and discrimination.

President Donal Trump has today, 6th December 2017, chosen to step forward and take action by affirming that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. In doing so he is going against the majority of the world’s nation’s stance but he is affirming what God has already stated in His word, the Bible. Furthermore the US government actually formally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on November 8, 1995. The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 was signed into law by President Bill Clinton so President Donald Trump is just confirming fait accompli; just like the Bible has done for several thousands of years.

Therefore President Donald Trump is on the right side of history and more importantly, on God’s side. May God bless America for making this historic stand.

So, yes, Jerusalem should and is the capital of Israel and always shall be; because God says so not the U.N.
